The Fold

Mountains & Sky

Where the mountains end and the sky begins

is the fold of the Universe,

where sadness and happiness collide,

where the past and the future meet today.

Look not on the convergence

with longing, searching,

or a need to see the separation.

The fold is a place

where none of that matters,

where there is no goodness or badness.

All just is.

Where all of the moments of life blend,

Effortlessly

Naturally

Joyfully

Complete.

Daily Injections

Joyful Yoga

“You’re Benjamin Buttoning,” my dear friend said.  What’s the secret?

Well-being.  When you have it, it shows.  It glows.

So, inject well-being into your life.  Let it flow through you, with you, and all around you…and then maybe you too will start to ‘Benjamin Button.’

How do you inject well-being?  More Joy… More Love…More Yoga.

“Certainly worth a try,” she said with a more youthful smile.

***

Celebrate National Yoga Awareness Month.  Take a yoga class or share yoga with a friend. Inject a little more well-being into your life!

On Her Merry Way

Wild Flowers

There once was a girl who carried a bag of doubt and shame.

And, she wore a coat of her ancestors’ woes.

One day, as she walked her path, her bag fell to the ground.

The contents of the bag rolled into a patch of wild flowers, glistening with peace and love.

As she gathered the contents of her bag, a few wild flowers mixed in.

She noticed how the flowers lightened her load and at the next patch added a few more.

At the next field, she filled her coat pockets with the flowers.

…and she floated along on her merry way.

Whatever happens…

Baltimore Sunset cropped

Whatever happened yesterday does not decide today. Whatever happens today will not determine tomorrow.

So, at the end of the day, no matter what has happened, know that you can wake up to a whole new tomorrow.

Apologies for this not getting to you on Monday — tried an “enhanced feature” on word press to set the delivery time and it appears it didn’t work!  Happy Thursday!

Timeless Optimism

Optimistic sun

The Optimist Creed (by Christian D. Larson, 1912)

Promise yourself

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past, and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature you meet.

To give so much time to improving yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds.

To live in the faith that the whole world is on your side, so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

Written 100 years ago and yet written for today.

Make it a great week!

Laugh…and Open New Possibilities

kaleidoscope quote 3

Laughter is a strong medicine for mind and body.  It is a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and conflict.  It also lightens burdens, inspires hopes, connects you with others, and keeps you grounded, focused, and alert.

There are many physiological and psychological benefits to laughter.

  The Benefits of Laughter

     Physical Health Benefits:

  • Boosts immunity
  • Lowers stress hormones
  • Decreases pain
  • Relaxes your muscles
  • Prevents heart disease

      Mental Health Benefits:

  • Adds joy and zest to life
  • Eases anxiety and fear
  • Relieves stress
  • Improves mood
  • Enhances resilience

      Social Benefits:

  • Strengthens relationships
  • Attracts others to us
  • Enhances teamwork
  • Helps defuse conflict
  • Promotes group bonding

Laughter is a catalyst for creativity, new discoveries, and enhanced relationships, with oneself and others.  Laugh more and you will find that you become more relaxed, positive, creative, joyful, and balanced.

Try this simple exercise:  Take a full breath in and then draw your shoulders up towards your ears.  Hold your shoulders up close to your ears. Count to two and then as you exhale, move your shoulders down and up quickly as you laugh, “ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha”, for six or eight times in a row.  Repeat several times.  Notice the release of tension in your upper body, notice your renewed energy and freer flow of breath.

Enjoy the benefits of laughter and know that, with every laugh…you open new possibilities for the Universe.

Make it a great week!
