Adulting

When I was a small child, I had needs.

My survival relied upon having my needs met by others.

I developed coping strategies to optimize the potential my needs would be met.

I had to believe I would survive. I was reliant on others.

As an adult, I can survive on my own.

I can need nothing.

My needs are now replaced with wants.

Wants are preferences that guide my choices and mold my experiences.

From the space of wants, I transition from believing I can survive to knowing I can thrive.

I move from engaging coping skills and relying on others to making choices in collaboration with those who authentically support my growth along with theirs.

There is power in wanting and knowing.

Wanting and knowing bring assuredness, clarity, and focus.

Expectations fall away, choices become simpler, and I begin to align more and more with my sense of fulfillment, harmony, and success.

Feeling the difference…

I need. I want.

I believe. I know.

I want.

I know.

I know.

I know.

Ripples

Each of us is standing in our own ripples,

Not different but unique,

Finding our own way to stay steady in shared space.

In this familiar but sometime unpredictable environment,

Looking for patterns that help us feel secure,

Relying on patterns that helped us adapt,

We find ourselves courageous enough to learn new patterns that allow us to thrive even more fully

Amongst the ripples.

Be-leaf in yourself

My new year wish for you…

Not that you make time for me or to do other things.

Not that you resolve to be any different than you are right now.

Not that you set out to accomplish anything more than you already have.

Not that you accumulate more than what is already there .

My new year’s wish for you is that you be safe where you are,

that you be fed on the soul level,

that you feel love,

and you fully and completely believe in the power of you to be a bright beacon for yourself and others

and in that light you thrive.

Blossoming

bristled or spikey
soft or wispy
feelings bud and grow like flower blossoms
designed to attract
designed to protect
all showing up as the latest projections of my unfinished stories
all modeling the birth of new beliefs
that I am free to cut
or stop and take in
all the exquisite manifestation of who I think I am and who I know I can be
all beautiful
regardless of the adjectives I attach to their existence
