Hard Work

img_0460

Compassion, peace, and calm cannot be forced.  One cannot demand that someone be compassionate.  One cannot command peace and calm.  Rather, one must model it, live it, and know that the path to peace in ourselves and others is a steady process of balancing ego and replacing envy and judgment with love and inspiration.  And that is the hard work that we must individually choose to do.

Forever

image.jpegRight outside the door of my heart

Sit two comfy chairs,

Where we once laughed and loved together.

Sometimes those chairs seem empty.

Then I remind myself…

They are abundantly full,

Full of the memories I have of you, of us, of our laughter and our love,

And then, I smile because that I know will last forever.

Dance

Dance like sunlight on the grass…paint an ever-changing pattern that stirs delight and marvel…and cast your shadow without bending a single blade of grass.

In the Cradle

  • imageIn the stillness of my breath, the pain goes away, life’s challenges lie outside of me, and I know true peace. In every breath, I am me, the me that exists beyond time and space, the infinite, radiant me, the me that I sometimes forget until I rest in the cradle of my breath.

Peeling Away the Layers

image.jpeg

When I am truly present, I feel each experience within my body. I receive it with my breath. I prod it with my thoughts and explore it with my feelings. Then, as I peel away these aspects of experience, these many layers of me, my inner wisdom welcomes that experience, absorbing it like a sponge, until that experience becomes me.

When the layers dissolve, all that I experience is me.

Be Meek

eggs touched up

Meek is not to be cowardly, rather it is gentle, patient, non-violent, and creates a soft space from which your power emerges in its most natural form – one of compassion, vision, abundance, and joy.  Be meek.

The Fog

FullSizeRender

Can I open my mind without thoughts rushing in? Can I clear the path and feel expansive and light when all my thoughts and feelings seem so dense and heavy?  I focus on my breath — its softness, its calm and gentle assertiveness as it moves through my body — and I begin to notice the light, to feel the freedom, to be the quiet…to know the peace of just being.  On my breath, the fog lifts and I expand beyond.

Peace within

Peace in me 2

Practice peace, love, and joy…not just in the ability to restrain exterior actions, but in every word, every thought, non-harming. Love, truly love, within and let the peace begin.

Our Own Selves

Own Self

Can I ask “How are you?” for the sake of simply caring?

Can I learn of your pain, your mistakes, your successes, without judging?

Can I know that your different opinions, ideas, and ways of doing things are exquisite because they are you?

Can I trust that all of your decisions are yours, not good or bad, but those necessary to lead you along the path that is you?

Can I resist the urge to selfishly invade your experience just to feel more powerful from the distant shores of my perceptions?

Can I love and respect you enough to allow you to mind your own business?

Can we all just live freely and in peace to exist in the space of our own decisions, to learn and grow in our own unique ways, and just go to work at the task of being what we were made to be…our own selves?
